au fan fiction where Monty and Winston meet over the summer
-
"I love it here," Winston sighs and I move to lay down next to him.

"Give it a week and you'll be sick of everything," I tell him. Seeing the same people, the same five shops, the same everything for your whole life isn't fun. I wonder how much longer he's going to be able to stand this before he wants to go back home.

"I'm serious," Winston says. "I really like it here. It's so different to the city."

"What's the city like?" I think William said they live in California or some shit. Our town is nothing compared to California, he can't be serious.

He shrugs and he keeps staring up at the sky. It's maybe three in the morning now but the sky is still dark.

"Busy. Loud." Winston says and then he sighs. "Boring. I mean, we don't even have fucking stars there. All the lights and everything, they make it impossible to see the stars."

California is boring? Are we talking about the same California? But I don't feel like questing him, I'm too tired to. "Yeah, I guess the stars are pretty."

He smiles and we stay there staring up at the stars. Soon the sun will be up and they'll be gone again.

You had been attending the same school for over 15 years, obviously because you were born in the small town in North Carolina. You were living a pretty normal life, till all of the abductions started happening in 1977. But lets go back a bit. Lets go back to the year 1976. You had been on a night shift on November 18th, 1976. There were many more people than your previous shift. Really the only people there were dropouts, druggies, drug dealers, freaks, and alcoholics. All around the ages 14-22. Everybody was pretty chill with eachother, except for a few people, but that was just the minority. You had been zoned out while staring at the clock, then suddenly heard a DING! Some kid wanted to buy some cigarettes again. You looked at him and he said "Jesus kid, you in a mental insitute or something? Snap out of it." you ringed him up after he asked you for a pack of camels, and then looked at a familiar guy playing pinball. The same blonde that got over 100,000 his last time he came. Everybody started hyping him up, so he's trying to beat 100,000. You remember the mess you had to clean up after some kid accidently knocked over a bunch of beer. You like to not think about how it ruined your favorite pair of shoes. He messed up again, and kicked the machine. You yelled out to him "That thing costs money you know." then he looked at you. His face almost looked angelic. But he had been the jerk of your highschool, so he couldn't be that angelic. He looked away and picked at his pockets. He pulled out nothing. He started walking up to you and started asking for a dime. "Come on, I feed you guys this money all the damn time. Plus you will just get it back." "Then maybe don't waste all your money on pinball. We've gained around $200 with you coming here almost everyday. Thanks for that." and then you smiled while picking up your book. He looked at you in anger, then you looked back up at him. He looked like he was in a bad mood. "Here's a dime." you said handing him a dime.

I hated Blue for almost 10 years. It took me 72 hours to fall in love with her. Even though it might seem unusual for a 17 year old, I have a habit of timing things. In 6th grade it took me 2 hours to stand on the boogie board without falling on the water. Almost 5 days to read 'Dracula' in freshman year and 7 days to gather courage and ask a girl called Mary to go out with me. 12 minutes to set up an Instagram account and half an hour to organize my room every time we come to Cousins. Honestly, I don't know why I do it. To make my dad's watch or maybe to get a sense of control. Regardless of the motive, I've done it since I was a kid. The numbers make sense, I was afraid of falling so it took me a while to learn to stand confidently on the board, afraid of being rejected so it took me a whole week to ask a girl out. But I can't, for the love of my sanity, explain what happened this past week. Ellie is someone I never liked, since the day she compared me to Sid, from the Ice Age, things between us have been a war zone. I can't help it, she gets under my skin like no one else ever did. So I'd like to understand why, while we were stuck together during a storm, it took me just 72 hours to fall in love with her. -- 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' fanfiction. Ellie is my OC and belongs to me but anything associated with TSITP doesn't. Mature themes such as death, abandonment trauma, depression, and sickness are explored. Proceed with caution.

"You don't really like to open up, do you?" The words startle me, seemingly jagged and impure in contrast to the light and beautiful atmosphere we were in. "I didn't say that." Asher snorted, "You didn't have to." I was quiet for a moment, looking out to the beach and resting my cheek on my knee. "It- It's not that I don't like to," I struggled to find the words good enough to explain. "I just think, maybe, I don't know how to anymore." Asher stares at me for a moment, eyes filled with an emotion that I can't put my finger on. I turn to face him properly, almost gasping when he appears much closer than I remembered. Before I can turn the moment into a joke, he speaks. "Well, if you ever want to learn again, I'll always be right here, Willa. I'm always right here." * Willa Montgomery didn't expect to be uprooted for her last summer before college, but two weeks in, here she is: Santa Monica, California. Willa hasn't had the best life as of recent, and with the impending damage of her parents messy divorce getting harder and harder to avoid, her mom decides the best place for her to be is anywhere but home. Enter Sylvia Edwards, Willa's mother's best friend since middle school, and Willa's godmother. Sylvia is more than glad to host Willa for the entire summer, opening up her beautiful home to her immediately. And with that beautiful home comes the beautiful Asher Edwards, and a whole bunch of memories Willa wasn't even aware she had. Living in a house with Asher, the sweetest yet most persistent guy to exist is both heartwarming and dangerous all at once, because soon enough, the barriers Willa spent years building around her fragile heart are coming down- and fast. Willa had never realized how frozen she was until Asher started to melt her ice. With eyes like oceans, a smile like honey and a touch like heaven. cover by @stylesoftimothee
