A secret magical experiment led to the creation of the Watchers. They alone utilize the powers of the supernatural to protect the secrets too dangerous for humans to know. When a watcher is killed they take another form and begin again with no memories of who they were. Ophelia has just regenerated into a new form when her old body was killed. She must learn her powers and keep the supernatural and human forces at bay.
