I recently learned that books blurbs are written by those who read them, and not by the author. I would appreciate some help in refining and describing this short story.
As some general information, the story is a semi-realism premise and follows young adult Hope through some of the tumultuous events that have made her the person she is today and her acceptance of them. I have tried to keep the descriptions somewhat loose so as to avoid distressing people too much but see what you think whether less truly is more or more is required!

An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. " You only truly miss someone when they are gone. And sometimes, it's hard to let go. But you have to let him go..." It is hard when your loved one is gone. But for Riley, it was something different. In a sick sort of way, she loved it-reminiscing about Leo, literally drowning in the memories of him. And it isn't long till Riley does drown herself among those gray memories, shutting and shunning the world forever, in a place too far to reach. She is already so gone, that every one of her friends and family are very close to giving up, and on each tick of the clock Riley is close to letting go. Will a curious stranger's words save her, or will Riley try to save herself? *If you read the summary, and decided that it is some sort of typical clichè , I'd like to tell you that this is NOT a cliche 'damsel-in-distress-saved-by-a-knight-in-shining-armour' story at all. You won't find anything such as that, as the tags suggests too. I chuckled slightly and shook my head. "Does that usually work for you? The cute little remarks and that nice smile." I teased. He gave me a sheepish look of surprise. "Most girls would be flattered at my attempt to flirt with them." I scoffed and shook my head. "Well, as a member of the "most girls" community, I can say that I am not." "Wow. That's a bit harsh." He gave me a smug look and crossed his arms. "Sorry," I shrugged. "I'm immune to boy charms. In fact, I think I'm allergic." "Well, don't think so highly of yourself. Just because you have cute dimples and a pretty face, doesn't mean I find you attractive." ------------------------------ Maya Cameron is a senior at Ohio State University and this is the year where you need to get your life together before you get pushed out into the real world. Writing is the only thing that keeps her sane after all of the trauma she's been though. With her mom and dad's unfortunate death, she's been left under the care of her evil step-aunt and forced to stay with her annoying step-cousin. As if college isn't stressful enough. And then there's this other guy in her life. They met online by accident and have been talking for months but she's not brave enough to make it something real. Will Ashby is the all-around superstar on campus. He's practically royalty because he's the running back on the Ohio State Football team: one of the best college football teams in America. Will is the person guys want to be and guy girls want to be with. But in actuality, he'd rather blend in with the background noise. His only focus has been football and finishing his degree. That was until he met this girl. He doesn't even know her name or what she looks like, but she's the girl he'd want to be real with. {NOTE: I WROTE THIS AT A VERY YOUNG AGE, NOT UNDERSTANDING THE PARTS WHERE I WAS CRAP AT WRITING AT THIS POINT AND HOW EVERYTHING IS VERY MELODRAMATIC. I HAD A LARGE CRUSH ON A GUY AT THE TIME AND MOST ROMANCE IN THIS IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAPPEN. OR SOMETHING. I ADVISE YOU DON'T READ.} Hope Jacobs was a normal American girl. Straight A* student, the class representative, model student and the best of the gym team. But she's got one weakness. And his name is Beck Jackson. Sweetest guy in school, most popular guy in school, head of the run and swim team, nice to everybody, A* student: they've been friends fro such a long time, but when it gets out that Hope is in love with Beck, he becomes so stubborn and oblivious. Hope can't contain herself then, and does so many reckless things; she might end up getting hurt- and on the wrong side of some people. Maybe even find out things she had forgotten - and wish she had never remembered. As more and more people enter her life, more and more situations she delves into. An old friend comes back, new friends are made and jealously rises over her. She makes choices that are bad which might make her career and friends just.... disappear. At the End of the Day
[COMPLETED] "We both agreed, Apollo! We said no feelings, no attachments! You promised you wouldn't get attached." I look down at my lap in worry and shame. I have no idea what to say, I promised her, but like an idiot I broke that promise. "Say something!" My breath hitches and I look up at my beautiful girl through my lashes, my eyes brimming with tears because I know after tonight we won't be seeing each other again. I stand up from the edge of the bed and walk over to her, watching as her chest moves up and down harshly with each breath. My eyes trail over the love marks I left moments ago when we were happy to only get lost in each other's arms temporarily. She's mad at me. I never wanted her to be mad at me. "I'm sorry, baby," I whisper reaching forward to run my finger along her cheek catching the falling tear that flows down her soft skin. "You promised." She whispers. I know. "I promise I'm not attached, Blue." Too late. ••• Apollo and Blue have a few things in common. They're both lonely, they're both sad and they both attend the same university, a place where they stumble upon each other for the first time. So when the two decide to keep each other company by forming a causal relationship, the hard-headed Blue sets clear instructions for Apollo.
