Let's imagine this, raise your hand if your whole normal world comes crashing down the just one somewhat normal night and you realize the people you knew your whole life have magic. Like, let's say elemental magic, a half creature of a vampire and snake shapeshifter, a talking bird that you later realize that same night is your friend and you have magic too but it's unstable...yeah. *Raises shaking hand* Looks like I'm the only one.
