Every child in the kingdom of Bellator is born marked by the Aurali. A rune carved into skin, proof of purpose, the line between belonging and being nothing at all. Every child except Domino Kilgore, born blank, raised in rejection, kept alive only by the one woman who refused to give up on her.

When the king calls for soldiers, Domino enlists with nothing to lose. What she doesn't expect is what awakens in her during training: the ability to manifest weapons from nowhere, a power with no rune, no precedent, and no name. The kingdom doesn't know what to make of her. The king does. He calls her a wonder. For the first time in her life, someone with power has told her she matters - and she believes him.

As Domino rises through the ranks, she finds what she never thought she'd have: a friendship with a princess who sees a person instead of a curiosity, and a bond with the soldier who trains her in secret, the only one who seems to understand what she's becoming. But the kingdom's strength was never as righteous as its people believe, and the soldiers who die in its wars are not simply lost to battle.
