Her mother was killed when she was 12, Since then Ava has had to take care of her father as he turned to drugs and gambling to help him cope with Ava's mother's death. Her mother's death was never investigated since the town and its surrounding areas are all run by gangs so the police have zero authority. Ava hopes to one day be free from the chains that keep her in Devils Dawn.

Angelo Blanco is the youngest gang leader in all of Virginia. At 28 years old he holds the respect of all and is someone not to play around with. Angelo took charge of his father's gang, The Fearless Ones when he was just 17 years old so he never had any chance of living like a normal teenager or adult.
