Nora is enemies with her own family. It's been that way for a while, but not like this. Now, they want her dead. Not to mention that ever since the Board killed the rest of Ander's family, he's been randomly going crazy and killing people. Nora doesn't want to worry him more by expressing her concern, but she's scared, and there are even bigger problems at hand. Her father is one of the best bounty hunters the Board has, and he's got no bigger bounty than Nora and Ander themselves.
Ander is afraid. Afraid of keeping secrets. Afraid of revealing them. Necromicon is back. Ander can't seem to get rid of the book of the dead. On the run, with few places to hid, perhaps he might have to use the book after all. And there is also the curse he bears in the Phantom Realm. Ander knows what he did wrong, but if he had to suffer for it, he wouldn't want Nora to suffer the same fate.

She thinks that her life could not be any different, but then she and her friends are discovered by the Board. She then meets a boy named Ander, who saves her from a near death experience. He has strange powers but does not bear the mark of a witch. He also works as the leader of a criminal justice group called Sangre, which the police have been investigating. Ander and Nora don't know what they're in for, but they now know that they have to stick together. It doesn't cross their minds that their small discovery will turn into a full blown war.
