Seven long years can leave a country in ruins. At first, when there was only the threat of the First-Mutated, who are people with magical abilities, life seemed hard but doable. But then the First-Mutated started mutating again. They become immortal beings.
The leader of one of the biggest cities has created a competition for all the First-Mutated. A one on one fight, to the death. The one who survives the most battles wins a place at the leader's right hand.
Ilya really doesn't want to go back to Arcadia, but when soldiers start forcing First-Mutated to Arcadia, she is left no choice. Together with her best friend, Elias, they go to Arcadia and end up in the competition.
But there is a reason Ilya would rather die than step a foot in Arcadia, again. And being back in the city she hates leaves no other option than revisit the past.
