A short story of a thousand words about a man who was obsessed with the stars.
This is my entry for the ScienceFiction contest here on Wattpad. It is the first time I'm writing a short story after so many months spent laboring over a book that still hasn't surfaced. I haven't written a lot of stuff, but I still like to think I can put a sentence or two together.
The story is science-fiction and arises from an image prompt of a galaxy cluster positioned in such a way that it looks like a face that's smiling (see the media attached to the story). It got my otaku mind thinking, and in a few minutes of thoughtful brooding, I came up with this idea. After fleshing it out, I started writing it.
It feels really good to actually write again, no matter how it came out. I've been in the throes of self-doubt for a long, long time; so long that I stopped critiquing stories (if I can't write them, who am I to criticize them?) and ultimately stopped reading. So I'm hoping that with this story, I might actually have broken through that wall. I might finally finish that book. (Though it's more like start)

"...I don't want to be with you", I sigh and even though I am crying, they are not tears of sadness, but relief. "What do you mean?". "I DO NOT LOVE YOU AND NEVER WILL!", I cried. "But I want to be with you. I want to have kids. I want to rule the omniverse by your side. I want you". "I'm sorry, but I don't. The voice in my head says no". Content Warning-This story is meant for mature audiences. It features adult language, references, situations, sexual content, graphic violence, and gore. Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my favorite genres to read. They are also my favorite to write. I've enjoyed writing since I won my first writing contest in the fourth grade. That was over twenty-five years ago and I haven't shared a sinlge word of it. Imposter syndrome is a bitch! Well, I finally managed to pull the trigger. Here is "O Negative". It's a mix of all of my favorite genres. I've mixed a fantasy, based on present-day Earth, with plenty of graphic horror and wrapped it all up within a world driven by the technological advancements that only can be obtained from millions of years of civilation. A small group of strangers find themselves surviving in a decimated world. It's bad enough to be stranded in a no-name town, but things become surreal when you realize the vast majority of humanity has died...it becomes terrifying when you realize you aren't that lucky to be alive. "Survivor's Guilt" isn't a thing when you find yourself the sole food source for an entire group of beings that no longer need to hide in the shadows. Man is no longer at the top of the food chain...they are now the cattle.

For over a hundred rotations, my kind has thrived under the use of surrogates. We are a male-dominated race, a warrior race, with a single objective....to dominate the universe. To do this, we have suppressed our mate bonds, forgotten the traditions that used to bind us to the mates we once worshipped. But all the changes now. Abandoned and alone, we are forced to expose our surrogates to life aboard a military vessel. My surrogate is the first we awaken. I know I'm strong enough to resist the pull of the bond. E28 held the entire world within his orange ethereal glowing hands. To most people, being twenty-four years old for all eternity, sounds like a pretty sweet deal. No elderly body aches, your sex drive remains on 100%, and you'll forever be in the prime of your life. Well, in their quest for scientific breakthroughs, our brilliant, overachieving ancestors unknowingly rewrote the entire genetic playbook for our bloodline-long before I was even conceived. By running experiments on themselves, they inadvertently spliced and hardcoded their DNA with something not even they fully understood. The result? Earl Williams the 28th. Born with a delightful grab bag of 5th-dimensional (5D) abilities, including, but not limited to, immortality. And I know what you're thinking. 'Wow! Immortality? That's incredible!' Well, let's see if you feel the same way after falling in love with your soulmate, watching them grow old and die, while you just keep on, existing. Turns out, eternal youth isn't all it's cracked up to be. In fact, it can be less of a gift, and more of a life sentence. Just after Earl's 400th birthday he discovered his 5th dimensional abilities could take him pretty far; literally. As in intergalactic travel. Over time he met other interdimensional beings. Such as Draco, a powerful 4D being who motioned for the ICU to immediately annihilate all of humanity, in order to give Earth time to rebuild its natural resources. Initially, the Intergalactic Chamber of the Universe granted Draco permission to follow through with his murderous plan. However, Earl stepped in and pleaded for humanity's relocation instead of their annihilation. You see Earl himself was earth born. Only as a teenager, did he discover his 5D abilities. He saw the progress humanity had been making. He knew they had learned from their past environmental failures. In his opinion, the people of Earth didn't have to die. All they needed was a new start on a different planet.Complete
No Man Left Behind
An intelligent entity by the name of Unilife captures the attention of an ancient alien race, who must decide whether or not to make first contact with the human race in order to stop this fast-learning, genocidal entity . . . And after encountering the entity themselves, Humanity must decide between fighting Unilife to the bitter end, or fleeing the Milky Way Galaxy altogether. This short story is a precursor to other writings to come. Essentially, I'm using my experience from writing this as a springboard for future planned projects. Sidenote: this project was originally drafted in Google Docs. For some reason, when copying over to Wattpad, Wattpad converts all the em dashes to regular hyphens. Be on the lookout for that, as it completely slaughters the meaning of certain sentences and phrases which use em dashes.
