She couldn't understand her unexplainable draw towards him, towards his rude words and rough edges, someone who couldn't care less about her...or at least she thought.

He wasn't sure how there was someone who could affect him that much. Always quiet, always apologizing, and for some reason...always around. He needed her out of his life, because he's known for a while now that she was something he wanted, and he was not the type of man to be denied.

When everything and anything you care for is a weakness, how much are you willing to risk?

She witnessed horror... and became one. After surviving a harrowing near-rape and watching her best friend brutally assaulted and murdered before her eyes, Aurora vanished-emotionally. What rose from the ashes was someone unrecognizable: Cold. Fearless. Savage. Untouchable. She trusts no one. Loves no one. And as far as she's concerned, no man alive could ever break through her fortress of ice. Love? Dead. Her rules? Simple. No emotions. No attachments. No second chances. But her new college? A battlefield. And him? Leonard Grande - the kind of trouble she didn't prepare for. Wounded. Rebellious. Addictive. Dangerous. A walking paradox with a face carved by gods and a soul damaged by demons. A notorious playboy who takes pleasure in breaking girls, shredding hearts like paper-because he believes every girl is a liar in disguise. Until Aurora. She doesn't look at him like he matters. She doesn't fall. She doesn't even flinch. And that pisses him off. Now it's war. A toxic game of destruction and seduction. She wants to erase him. He wants to ruin her. But when secrets from the past start surfacing, both realize they've been walking in the dark... and maybe-just maybe-they were destined to collide. How deep do their scars go? And who's really pulling the strings in this web of pain and passion. Dive into a dark college romance where love is a weapon, trust is deadly, and only the strongest survive. When bad meets baddest... there are no rules. Trigger Warning: This story contains themes of sexual violence, emotional trauma, murder, psychological manipulation, and abusive behavior. "Crap, sweetheart," Pat's voice was tinged with regret, even as he cupped her face with both hands and began to dust kisses on all the available skin he could find, "I didn't mean to make you cry." Helen sniffled, bringing her hands up to wrap her fingers around his wrists. "I don't think I'll ever deserve you," she confessed, "but I do love you." And how could she not? Pat was more than she could have ever hoped for in a partner. Pat's movements stilled, and he left his lips hovering just over her own. "We'll have to work on the first part of that statement," he mumbled. "The second part, however . . . well, I'm glad, sweetheart. I love you too." And she knew he truly did. *** Helen is proud to be a journalist; she's prouder still to be the writer of her city's favorite advice column. She is not proud, however, of her troubled past, or the fact that she can't get in a car without having a panic attack. And then she meets Pat, who is both a trustworthy chauffeur and one of the sweetest men she's ever known. Between finding new love, healing old wounds, and worrying about a recent murder, how's an advice columnist to cope? *** The rest of this story can be read for free on my website: ardewler.com (no account needed, since making accounts is bleh)
