"You ever wonder what happened before the Rules," Luke's curious voice speaks up from next to me at our table, the random googles he's wearing making him undeniably adorable.

I mess with the plastic cow in front of me and pull our paper closer, "What do you mean?"

"You know," he slows his words trying to get his thoughts across to me, "like before the rules and laws of physics. And all that science stuff. What happened, what did they think?"

His blue eyes look into mine, and I can't help but laugh at his statement, "Luke, you realize gravity and all that stuff still existed before they were discovered right?"

"I know, I just really don't wanna find out the aerodynamics of a goddamn cow," he sighs as he reaches for the cow in my hand and replaces it with his, our fingers interlacing together. God this boy is the definition of a distraction. But he's the best distraction that's came into my life.
