This Avatar story is my idea of what came after Korra - after Aang the last Airbender came Korra, the last avatar - or so everyone thought. After peace reigned for years past Korra's death everyone assumed that the cycle of Avatars was over because the light spirit Raava had been ripped out of Korra by the dark spirit Vaatu, but then something happened... The fire nation attacked again as an old fiend rose from the ashes and was reborn - Azula is back and out for vengeance - when she takes the world back into the past age from Aang's time someone most rise to the occasion to stop her.

We all know and love the story of Avatar the last Airbender, but what if things were a little different? What if Prince Zuko was the Avatar? This simple question throws the entire Avatar world for a spin. Let's start with a summary shall we? With the disappearance of the avatar after the death of Avatar Roku, the world watched in horror as 3 more fell after him. The airbenders were all wiped out and so went the air nomad avatar. The southern water tribe had all of its benders taken and killed, along with the avatar of water. The earth kingdom has been sacked for decades by an onslaught of firebenders. On the battlefield, the firelord himself slew the avatar in vicious combat. Now the world has all but lost hope as a new Avatar has yet to be discovered anywhere in the world. Many believe that the cycle has ended, others believe that there was no Avatar. A new one would rise from the unlikeliest place possible, from the throne room of the firelord himself. Flames Of Fate (Zuko X Reader)
There is an old folklore about the Children of the Forest. They were mortal spirits who were the First Benders with the ability to travel freely to the spirit world and to the human realm. Each with their own element of air, water, earth and fire. They were one with their elemental animals and travelled the spirit and human realm freely.
