26 parts Complete In this retelling of a classic tale, Mariette struggles through life with a stepmother that hates her. When she is whisked away at the prince's ball, she begins to believe that her life is going to change-that is until the prince discovers that her slipper is a perfect fit for her stepsister.
Fighting the urge to confess her secret, Mariette and her family move into the prince's castle, where old friends-and fiancés-are reunited.
Note on Setting: This takes place in a kind of fictional France (hence many of the names, though they speak English).
Postscript: "Lady" is a title given to woman married to a man with an estate, much like "Queen" is given to a woman married to a man with a castle. "Mistress" is given to a woman yet to inherit an estate, though of high-class breed (one would not refer to a beggar or maid as 'Mistress'). Monsieur (pronounced Mi-syur, despite the spelling) is a title given to a man that has yet to or has inherited an estate.
