Zia has been a waterbender all her life.
Something that is very much taboo to talk about since it would mean death for her and her grandmother.
Her grandmother had been a prisoner taken from the southern water tribe many years earlier, but she escaped and settled down in a fire nation village where she had a daughter that died young and left her with her granddaughter. She takes every chance to secretly teach Zia about her heritage.
But there's only so much she can do and when she is executed for treason Zia is left to run from the very same fate.
On the way to finding her own place in the world she finds a banished prince that she travels with.
And soon there's rumors of the Avatar being back.

In a universe where Zuko abandons his search for the avatar after he realizes that his father will never accept him back, he meets Zia. A sarcastic and strong willed waterbender that has no problem treating him like a normal human being.
The two set out to travel and run into a lot of trouble before meeting the avatar that Zuko gave up on finding.
There the two meet Sokka and their two man dynamic suddenly became three.

This story takes place after the war has settled. Aang and Katara finally together, Zuko the firelord, Sokka being,...well Sokka, Toph happy and never to return home, and the nations were finally at peace. When team Avatar decides to return to the southern water tribe to visit Sokka and Katara's family, they end up bringing Zuko along, giving him a well deserved break of running the fire nation. However, feelings start to make themselves known. Feelings that Aang doesn't like, little does he know he ends up pushing Katara into the arms of the edgy firebender, which was the last thing he was trying to do. Will this new romantic relationship tear team Avatar apart? Will it make them stronger? Will Katara's new found heated relationship be accepted by her tribe? Can the group move past it, and continue on? Will Aang ever get over Katara and find someone new? Knowing it's never easy ridding the feeling of that first love. The Dragon spirit Ryo and his lover Kitsune the Fox goddess. Kaito the reincarnation of Ryo, the dragon spirit, was born in the Southern Water tribe as the oldest child of Hakoda and Kya. When he was eleven, the Fire Nation raided the Southern Water Tribe, which resulted in his mother's death and his capture, which left his family in agony after losing their mother and older brother. However, three years later, Kaito who was Fourteen unexpectedly returned to the Southern Water Tribe, which left everyone stunned for a bit before welcoming him back. When his family asked what happened to him, he would always avoid answering the questions or just ignore them altogether. He took part in the war with his father and for the past two years had developed not just his water-bending abilities, but also his combat capabilities to the fullest. Before returning home on the order of his father, and traveling to parts of the world, learning different skills. This, had been the instance when it came to the northwest part of the Earth Kingdom, that had went on to become the Fire Nation colonies. The people of the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom lived on in the land that was given to them and gradually, they became one. They collaborated and cooperated in order to live and so they got richer, learnt to depend on each other for their survival. By the end of the war, the people, even though they came from different backgrounds, were one. A decade after the end of the war, the Avatar is commanded to solve the matter of whether the former Fire Nation citizens need to move or not. Aang believes the nations need to be separated. The people in the colonies do not, hatred starts to grow in their hearts. The Avarar will need the help of a companion more than any other time, and there is no better person to aid him than the secret waterbender that's part of the Fire Nation fleet, the woman who risked her own life to get him to safety, even though this had been the first time they had met in their lives.
