A debutante from Norfolk who had her whole life laid out for her in a step-by-step guide. A farm boy from Lancaster who paid his way through Franklin and Marshall College by painting high tension towers. To an outsider, Dick Winters and Georgia Fenley couldn't be any more different. After all, they would never have even met if it wasn't for the Airborne. Well, that and a meddling intelligence officer with a penchant for Vat 69. From Toccoa to Zell am See, these two worked to protect Easy Company, the 506th PIR, and each other. Despite all odds and differences, Dick Winters found the love of his life and Georgia Fenley found a man who restored her faith.

Those things which are precious are saved only by sacrifice." - Stephen E. Ambrose, Band of Brothers - * - * - * - War never changes, but who you fight alongside does. In 1942, Alice Klein left the French Maquis to assist the American's paratrooper corps. She lost everything to the Nazis when she left: her family, her country, and her friends. But she gained Easy Company. Alice and the rest of Easy Company have been through six long months of combat already. They've seen friends die. But they're about to enter the toughest months yet. December in Bastogne brings trench foot, artillery barrages, and snipers. It brings frostbite and stupid mistakes. And above all, D-Day + 193 brings death. As the war drags on, Alice must face hard truths about what it means to be a German Jew. Events from 1942 come to light which force her to rethink everything she knew about her family's fate. As it turned out, Germans were the first victims of the Nazi party. Thankfully, Alice doesn't have to face it alone. While some faces disappear forever, others become closer than she could have ever imagined. Collaboration with @silmarilz1701 Svetlana knew how to play the game. She'd been caught in the political drama of Stalin's inner circle since birth. The only child of one of Stalin's closest friends, she grew up in the limelight, scrutinized by friend and foe. With the outbreak of the war, Sveta found a taste of freedom with the snipers. For Zhanna, her place in the military was the only thing she could be proud of, giving her a tie to the place she called home. With the grace of others looming over her head, Zhanna had only one chance to be more than the blood inside her veins and the prayer on her lips. But then the Nazis invaded the Motherland. Tasked with reaching the Allies by her father, Sveta once more found herself a political pawn. But she wouldn't go alone. Friend and comrade Zhanna joined her in their flight from Russia. But with the Eastern Front crumbling, the girls found themselves at the mercy of America for a way home. And that way home meant learning to jump with the Airborne. They were already soldiers. How hard could that be? For Zhanna, she may be able to embrace the company of those around her. But for Sveta, the daughter of a man who represented everything the Allies worked against in the Bolshevik Revolution, it may be too difficult. * * * * Title Inspiration: "Death to the German invaders! Long live our glorious Motherland, her liberty and her independence! Under the banner of Lenin, forward to victory!" - J. Ad Astra Per Aspera is the sequel to The Soldier of Stars. ----------- Waking up disoriented and inside a hospital, that has the dingy army issued light bulbs, the rough cots and the smell of despair is not how Hazel thought her new year would start, especially with the pulsing wound that lies in her side. Hazel Parker, severely injured and mentally unstable, lies in wait at a field hospital, as Easy Company continues to battle the tortures of the war. Catherine McCown, Elizabeth Elliot and Easy Company, are struggling, especially after the major losses of Bill Guanere and Joe Toye or others like Donald Hoobler and especially Skip Muck and Alex Penkala and most importantly, the tiny sniper Hazel Parker. Each loss pushed Easy into a darker time, a darker reality that they would ultimately have to face if they were to make the attack on Foy. They know the war is coming to a close soon, it has to be, but with the current loses and the shine of hope that is slowly dwindling, Easy barely stays afloat as they manage to fend off the town of Foy and proceed to Alsace, France. Through the ups and downs of the ending of the war Ad Astra Per Aspera follows Easy's ending to the war as well as Hazel's undying story of love and war, as well as the thoughts of the stars and the will to keep fighting even if you're hurting. ----- oc's + band of brothers characters sequel to the soldier of stars ----- started: 5 - 17- 2020 finished: n/a -- #1 in Joe Liebgott: 7/25/20 #3 in World War 2 8/3/20 #8 in Alternate History 8/3/20 #5 in HBOwar 8/3/20 #10 in Band of Brothers 8/3/20 ----- covered made by: me!! :)

Included on Wattpad's HistoricalFiction World Wars reading list. - * - * - * - Being in the French Resistance wasn't what Alice Klein envisioned her life looking like. She'd wanted a husband and a flat in Paris, and maybe a cat with a pink bow who would sleep on her piano. But bullets didn't discriminate between male or female, young or old. Alice knew that better than most. As a half-German, half-French Jew, it seemed no matter where she went, she was hated. To the German army or Vichy France, she was a traitor. To any uneducated Allied soldier, her last name screamed Nazi. When the Maquis heard of the Allies looking for connections to the French Resistance, they'd quickly offered up Alice as a multilingual translator and Underground liaison. Whisked away from the French Alps, she arrived to the States to train as a paratrooper, knowing that failure was not an option no matter how much she disliked it. Lucky for her, she didn't just find barracks and training grounds in America. She found men, and in them, family to replace the one she'd lost. - * - WARNINGS for realistic depictions of world war ii, strong language, era-typical sexism, era-typical anti-semitism, alcohol abuse, cigarette abuse, past sexual assault - * - * - * - Pairing: mostly gen, way down the line it's eventual Lewis Nixon/OC BOOK ONE in [ A Tale of Two Heritages ] Start Date: December 5, 2019 End Date: March 24, 2020 Final Word Count: 150,786 Cross-posted to FFN and Ao3 - * - * - * - #1 in World War Two, #1 in Band of Brothers, #1 in Feminist, #1 in 1940s, #1 in Lewis Nixon FIRST PLACE: Cherry Blossom Awards 2020, Writer's Glory Awards 2020 THIRD PLACE: Historical Fiction in Spice Off Award, Fanfiction in Majestic Inc.
