Kota (the OC of the story) was a non bender, one of some of the people who lived in the four nations who faced many challenges. Him and his mother were forced to flee from the triads as they hid on a ship that would take them to the South Pole. To protect Kota, his mother gave herself up but sadly lost her life to the triads. When the ship finally arrived to a harbor on the South Pole, a water bender found the frightened boy and took him into his family as their own. Years later, his older sister Korra was now prepared to master all the elements as the next Avatar but when Kota was out fishing, a mysterious meteor crashed onto the ice. What came out was a black goo that reshaped and bonded with him, giving him something he wished he had as a child. The power to protect those he loved.
