His eyes were glossy and I saw a tear run down his cheek. I brought my hand up to his cheek and wiped his tear away with my thumb. I caressed his cheek and brought him upstairs to my bedroom. I opened the door and we sat on my bed together. I faced him and looked him straight in the eye. "Will you please tell me what's wrong?" I asked in a soft voice. He took a deep breath, looked me in the eyes and spit out the 4 words that broke my heart. "My parents abused me."

"Ow, Sam! You're hurting me!" I yelled, trying to push him away. "I can't let you go, Jadie. I just fucking can't!" Sam said through gritted teeth.
