PAGES UNTURNED...

My eyes were wild and blazing hot with hatred and bitterness as I clutched the gun in my hand tightly, pointing it towards the man I once loved.... The man that broke and took my life away from me..
« you won't pull the trigger, you are too weak» he taunted.. he tried to get up but hissed in pain as he fell back to the floor with a thud..
I guess I did a number on his knees with the hammer seeing him helplessly trying to get up but couldn't..
I laughed hysterically as I looked at him shaking my head..
" you don't know the monster you created"
"If you kill me the police will find you and if they don't you will be on the run for the rest of your life" he painstakingly dragged himself backwards "our daughter will have to live without her parents. Drop the gun!! Goddammit!!! "
" it's too late" I spat
"Honey don't do this, my family will not let you go. You can't plead your way out of this if you kill me " he bargained again..

Cocking the gun I smiled. " you seem to be forgetting something dear husband.. I AM DEAD!! I don't exist anymore. you made sure of that"
" I am sorry... pls " he pleaded.. "let's start all over again. I will give you anything"
I had always wanted to hear those words come out of his mouth but right now they meant nothing....

I fired a shot to his head and watched my greatest nightmare fall...
I expected to feel something, a sense of satisfaction or regret or guilt but I felt nothing.
Nothing but emptiness..
A deep hollow....
Placing the gun in his hand, I took a last look at the place I once called home and I walked away never to look back...
