'Here we all like to say.
That everything is 
going to be the same.
Happiness will never just walk way.
Leaving us with
empty whispers.
Lingering
and dispersed in the air.
Don't give us 
that secondhand sadness 
People like to tell us.
That maybe we're blindly living.
But honestly I prefer 
empty whispers.
Over those switchblade words.
At least in the end .
They never leave 
marks on my skin.
Oh, I'm so grateful for 
the void in my heart.
Don't you ever show 
you're emotions
or you'll end up dead'

The world did in fact not end with a bang, but a whisper. Nothing was left but a suffocating stillness. The air was thick with ash, the remnants of humanity left to crawl through a poisoned wasteland. The whispers of those we had lost haunted us. The line between predator and prey had began to blur. The dead did not rest but it was the survivors that plunged the earth into darkness. I had grew to watch the accustomed look of desperation between my group. Haunted by my past I became a distant memory to those I once looked to for hope. They just didn't understand that biding time wasn't a blessing, it was a curse.
