" You really aren't in any position to be making demands, hot shot" I say pushing the blade harder against his neck.

He chuckles deeply before leaning into the blade " and you, little devil, should know by now I'm not scared of you."

A shiver runs down my spine. I'm fucked. I lower the knife slowly as my eyes flick down to his lips. Don't do this, Sage. Either walk away or kill him, those are your options.

His hand slowly cups my face as he grabs my chin. He tilts it up forcing me to look at his eyes.

With that one look everything stops. I am so beyond fucked it's not even funny. How the fuck did I get here.

"Now correct me if I'm wrong, little devil, but I believe my eyes are up here," That stupid smirk crosses his lips as he continues " if you keep staring I might get the impression you want something from me." He lowers his mouth to my ear " Say the word and I'm yours Sage."

"Tell me and I'll deal with it. I'll handle it. Just-don't shut me out." "I can't," she says again, voice breaking. "I can't tell you. I can't be with you. And I can't stand here and watch you break and know that I'm the reason." She swallows hard, her throat moving. "Please don't make me explain it. Please just... stop." I take a step toward her anyway, rain dripping from my eyelashes, my chest hollow. "I don't care if it kills me," I say, and it's not bravado; it's a man with nothing left to barter. "If that's the price, fine. At least then I get to be with you before it ends." She makes a small sound, half sob, half laugh, and it's the most human thing I've ever heard from her. "Don't say that," she whispers, almost fierce. "Don't ever say that." She holds my eyes for one last beat, lips parted like she might say something else - something that could undo all of this, something that could make the rain stop mattering. But she doesn't. Instead, she exhales, low and unsteady, and shakes her head. "I'm sorry," she says again, softer now, like a confession. Then she turns. And that's it.

The world finds odd ways to put people together. For them, it was PR. ~ She walked along the shore, the humid air, feeling much colder next to the beach. She shut her eyes and stood there, letting the sound of crashing waves overtake every single thought in her minds, ironically, silencing the bustling thoughts. She felt peaceful. He noticed a girl walking just a few feet ahead of him. At first, his thought was that it could be her but it didn't seem that way. The closer he went the more different the person looked. He let out a sigh of lost conviction. He felt hopeless. His footing must've been horrible as he slipped over a rock and tumbled forward, a little gasp of shock leaving his lips. The unexpected rustling behind her, made her face the intrusion. Noticing the man on his knees, she went over to him, lending a helping hand. He noticed a very familiar ring covered hand stick out towards him. He didn't think much of it as he held it to stand up. Why did it feel like home? ~
