Emmeranne Quintus, A not so ordinary but looks it on the outside recently turned Eighteen year old girl, With lots of child trauma and daddy issues, And a sister that hates her with a furious passion And another that's Complicated, And a grandmother that loves her to death, And a grandfather that's complicated and slightly distant, Finds herself surrounded by that of which she was taught since the day of her birth to kill;
Emmeranne has always been different, Not just in her appearance but by her blood and way of thinking, And seeing the world. Which is the polar opposite from the way she was taught as a child, From Her father,
Growing up all Emmeranne wanted from life and even now, Is to be loved And normal. But the second one is something that will never happen, It's a wish that falls upon dead stars Never to be answered. And the first one, Is something she only gets from one person in the world, Her grandmother.
And though the woman tells her she loves her it was still not enough, Because she wanted to hear the words from her father, Her sister's, And even her grandfather. All she wanted was to hear them say that they loved her, But instead all she got was more training, More beatings, More lessons to learn. And eventually she gave up, On ever hearing the words from the Three people she wanted to hear It from most, Realizing she never would.
So it wasn't a hard decision for her when she made the decision to move in with her grandmother in a small town in Florida, The day after her 18th birthday, And it didn't come too much of a surprise from her small family.
But what did come to a surprise, Not for her family but for Emmeranne, That completely changed her life and turned it upside down, In a way she never expected. Was to lock eyes with beautiful Green ones, That were attached to fangs, One night Minutes before she was to close, The bookstore she works in.
Changing her life.

"Do you remember calling me 'mate?'" he asked softly, pushing her wild curls away from her face.
She blushed deeply, but he wouldn't let her look away. "You heard that?"
He nodded with a smile. "It was the first thought she ever shared with me."
Skylar pursed her lips. "She likes you very much."
"What about you?" he teased gently. "How do you feel about me?"
She set her jaw and once again managed to look down her nose at him while staring up at him. "Well... well, I'm rather fond of you, Orion."
He let out a relieved laugh and pulled her into his chest again. "What a relief. I was worried it was just me." He nuzzled her temple, inhaling deeply, his dragon fully at peace. The words "I love you" were right on the tip of his tongue, but he knew it was too soon for that. He would have to hold them in just a little while longer. "I'm fond of you, too," he whispered in her ear.
