Jazmin Acosta is moving from New York to California for a better life with her family. When her mom Rosa told her about those shocking news, she was shocked and sad that she is leaving a state that she pretty much grew up in. However her mindset changed as soon when she learned about the colleges in California for her major so in a weird way, she was excited and scared at the same time. In the state of California, Matt Sanders is a person who never cared about going to college. He looked at it as a waste of time since he wants to be a singer for a rock band that he created.
However his mother and his father always comparing him to his successful older sister Julia who is a doctor at a hospital which always made himself feel less. Thus making him go to college for music to prove his parents wrong. Once they both land in the college, Matt automatically befriends Jazmin and builds a connection between the two of them. He realizes Jazmin is shy and introverted while he is outspoken and caring. She determines to help him with his issues with his mother as he helps her with her confidence.

Instead, the two of them keep each other company, and their friendship very quickly escalates into a romantic and intimate relationship. Despite having Mikayla, Jay's troubles continue to burden him. He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school. With everything seemingly piling up, Jay is very close to his breaking point, and late one night he is blindsided by the unthinkable, pushing him much too far and effectively planting in his mind a cruel and horrific plan for revenge.Complete

As things at home begin to deteriorate too, Caleb’s situation goes from bad to worse. The only person who knows the truth, Dr Palmer, leaves him to stand on his own two feet, declaring him cured. He starts back at college full time, and becomes ever closer with Stephanie, the only person whom he feels that he can trust. When his own father attacks his mother, Caleb begins to think that the police are on to him, trying to unravel his past, thinking that they have realised what happened to cause him to try to commit suicide. However, they are just trying to build a case against his father. In desperation, Caleb tried to reach out to Dr Palmer, against the advice of his mother. As his life spirals out of control, Dr Palmer makes him realise that the only way he can carry on is to come clean and reveal his secret.
