In Moribund, a dystopian city in the northern wastelands, the people are divided into two categories: the Gifted and the Commoners.
Gifted children are taken by the government at the time their abilities are discovered and brought into Facility 07 where they are given education and training. Carter, a boy with the ability to determine a person's or object's level of hostility in mere seconds, understands the need of education for the Gifted children. The training which involved firearms and combat? It seemed too unusual and sketchy. After all, Moribund seemed to have no political enemies and the last war happened decades ago.
Unwanted allies, unforseeable enemies, unanswered mysteries, and an uprising of Commoner Rebellion complicates events in Moribund and threatens lives of the Gifted.
Can Carter's abilities help him identify those he might trust? Or will he meet his demise in the hands of those he thought were heroes?

When working on a project, a student named Sophia found a dusty old book underneath the school library floor. She showed her two other friends Judah and Zach which made them open the animus book that unleashed something greater than either of them can imagine. With some curiosity, they realized that the powers were waiting for them ever since they were born. The book didn't just give them magical powers. The powers had to be a weapon for something dangerous coming along. It even brought along a special entity to help the trio to build up their powers. With the training, the group gets their powers as strong as they can, even stronger than they can handle. Even with their powers, they can't protect themselves against students and teachers in middle school.
