Cecilia Adams. An 18 year old sarcasm extraodinaire. Her life had always been sheltered and boring; family, school, and books. Lots and lots of books. Now that she's been accepted into her dream college, she hopes that her life will change and become more....exciting, perhaps. But how much of her life will change when a mesmerizing green-eyed boy with a seemingly innocent past crashes into her life unexpectedly?

...

"What...what are they going to do to me?" I ask quietly.

"Nothing. I promise you that I will not let anything happen to you, over my dead body will I let those assholes touch you." He presses his forehead against mine. "I love you."

"I love you too. I trust you."

As her world closes in around her, she will need to decide: destroy humanity's greatest discovery or fight back and risk it all. "Oh yes, I remember now, when you came to threaten me," she remarked. He stalked towards her, a coy smile tugging at his lips. "That wasn't a threat sweetheart, trust me, you'll know if I threaten you." His husky voice sent a shiver down her spine. Another suppression. She thought distractedly looking at his mouth. He leaned closer, taking her glace as an invitation. "Then may I ask what exactly you do call that?" "It's a little bit sad that you even have to ask that?" He replied, looking at her lips. Her confidence waned as his insinuations became more direct. "Oh my mistake, you must get slapped a lot if that's your method of flirting." She squared her shoulder not willing to back down. He leaned in whispering in her ear, "Do you have a habit of slapping people when you don't know how to react?" She felt her cheeks heat as her mind raced to think of a response. "You want to know something interesting?" He asked, his lips grazing her ear. "I doubt you know anything interesting." She managed to say through the sound of her own heart beating. He chuckled, pulling back to look into her eyes, a mischievous glint lighting in his eyes. "I find it very interesting. That you haven't asked me to let you go." Her heart leapt at the insulation, immediately pushing on his chest. "Hah!" She scoffed, simultaneously insulted and embarrassed.

Prologue In the world of college life, words are often thrown around like confetti-light, colorful, and sometimes lacking substance. They say things to fill the silence, to create connections, and to express feelings that often remain hidden beneath the surface. But what happens when those words fall flat? When the promises made in fleeting moments fade into echoes of unfulfilled intentions? This is a story about the complexities of communication and the silent battles fought within relationships. It began with a simple smile exchanged in the midst of chaos during National Pharmacy Week-a moment that seemed inconsequential yet held the weight of possibilities. She found herself drawn to him, captivated by the way he spoke, the way he made her feel. But as she discovered, words alone would not be enough to bridge the gap between us. As their paths intertwined, we danced around each other in a series of unsaid feelings, lingering glances, and an unspoken connection that left her yearning for more. But with every promise unkept, the reality became clearer: words are just that-words. They mean little without the actions to back them up. This is the story of Elle's journey through that realization, a tale of fleeting moments, unfulfilled expectations, and ultimately, the power of choosing clarity over confusion. It's about learning that love is not just spoken; it's demonstrated. And in the end, it was a lesson that would change everything she thought she knew about relationships and herself.
