My Dear Payne

Marriage. It's a touchy subject. Especially when it comes to John Payne Todd. No one ever gave him a handbook on how to deal with your father and newborn brother suddenly passing away thanks to yellow fever.
Dolley Todd, his wonderful mother, Payne had taken care of her for at least a few years on his own now, just starting at the mere age of ten. But suddenly, as the classic 1700's fairytale goes, a man walks into her life. You would think Payne would be ecstatic, no more piles of chores, no more empty space at the dinner table, but he couldn't be anything farther from such.
