Although Layla Hyde had spent all her adult life, concealing her secret identity and secret love as the best selling mystery author R.B.Crow, while working as an office clerk in city hall by day. She has somehow been dragged into another game of pretend, instigated by a dangerous serial killer who uses her books as pointer in his hideous acts. 
She is now being closely monitored by the FBI, specially by the agent Derek Gordon.
Derek has put his whole into his works as an FBI agent, never has he been swayed or destabilised by anything. In order for him to do his job he has sacrificed most of what make a human be. But when he meets the intriguing Layla Hyde feeling he thought he'd buried along with his family came out to catch him by surprise.
