Following the disbanding of the Galatics and the framing of the leaders of the First Order Ben and Rey have settled in the suburbs to live a low key life in anticipation of the arrival of their first child. The happiness is quickly destroyed at the arrival of a note showing up at the office from Ben's presumed dead Grandfather sending the expectant parents into a downward spiral of deceit and lies.
In an attempt to protect his growing family, Ben does the only thing he can think of, in turn putting them at greater risk and threatening the stability of his own marriage and job as CEO of Alderaan publishing, the company entrusted to him by his Mother. Having been burned in the past, they try to keep everyone at arms distance except for the trusted few, but when you're dealing with professional con artists, can you really trust anyone?

Luke Skywalker stands net to R2-D2 the sky around him burns shades of orange, yellow and red and behind him a Jedi temple burns. Kylo feels his father's hand upon his face the watched as his father falls into the abyss. "Your journey nears its end." A sinister voice now whispers, and a flash of blue light reveals a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers filling the vastness of space as blue fire leaps between them. A powerful red laser of an unseen weapon obliterates the surface of a planet. Shrieks, whispers and screams and then the sound of a lightsaber igniting. A fiery red saber but behind that saber is Rey, her hand twitches and the saber becomes a double-pronged staff. A maniacal evil laugh cackles. Kylo woke with a start and sat upright on his bed. Written after the first trailer dropped and finished before the film was released. Contains references to previous films, novelisations and comics. After Crait, the Resistance is all but decimated. It will take time before they regain the strength and numbers to be anything more than an annoyance to the First Order. In the meanwhile, the Force bond between Rey and the new Supreme Leader not only continues but grows. They begin to be able to see one another's surroundings, touch things... and as the bond grows, so does their relationship. Mutual distrust becomes begrudging acceptance. Then a strange sort of friendship. And then... well... ;) Post TLJ Reylo fanfic; VERY Rey/Ben centric; will focus almost exclusively on times when the bond brings them together; A VERY patient slow burn that devotes a lot of time to character development. Rey offers him shelter and he stays with her, learning about Jakku through her eyes, but leaves her when he hears of his father, Han Solo, becoming ill. Ben returns to the palace and informs his father of his new info and his father deems him ready to be the new King. Will Ben be able to make Rey is Queen against his mother's wishes and the law?
