Scarlette Romanoff was always known as a wild card. She had her own set of rules she followed. She did her own thing. But when Coulson calls her back in for the battle of New York she planned to be in and out. But a certain super soldier captured her heart. Is it enough to make Scarlette stay? Or will her passed romance stop her from moving on?

"Friends don't look at each other like that!" She yelled at me. 

"You don't think I know that?" I scream back.

"Look I get it he WAS your husband. But that's your past I'm here now. I'm you're future."

"You don't get it! Don't tell me you wouldn't do the same in my position." I yell at him. 

"WELL I CANT. I DONT HAVE TOO. I HAVE YOU!"

"God you don't get it." 

"THEN EXPLAIN IT TO ME!"

"Lette you ready to go?" Nat asks me handing me a purse. 

"As I'll ever be." I sighed. I look myself over in the mirror and take a deep breath.  

"The chances of seeing him are slim." She puts a comforting hand on my shoulder. 

"Yeah," I try and keep the tears in, "Let's get this over with." I pull my shoulder out of her grasp and walk out of the room.

"Welcome to where I was trained." Steve says taking in the scenery around him. 


"Captain America or Steve Rogers?" I smile at him.


"Steve Rogers." He lets out a small smile before zoning out.

The curtain around the hospital bed slides open to reveal an African American man with warm eyes. He walks in with an easy smile and a white man steps in just behind him with dark blue eyes and near black brown waves that fall to his shoulders. The man behind him catches my eye, his eyes a bright blue with a crown of golden hair. Our eyes meet and his crystal blue ones widen. Déjà vu hits me like a truck and my mind bounces back to a fuzzy night a couple of months ago full of hard liquor. I watch Nick as he sighs deeply and clasps his hands in front of him. "Your skill set is equal to the best that we have. You would be an invaluable part of the team." He explains, but he knows that isn't what I mean. We stare at each other for a moment before he sighs again. "Your history only makes you more of an impressive subject." He continues and I groan. "The point is that you would help put an end to what happened to you, on a global scale." He says. "Think about it, Shifter." Nick drops a folder on the concrete and starts to walk back to the exit of the roof. I flip through the folder lazily, barely skimming the papers, but I know all of the names already.
