Karis Lin has waited all her life to attend the prestigious Empyrean Academy -- to hone her skills as a pyrokinetic, also known as a Blazer. When she finally gets accepted, she is determined to be at the top of every class, to make connections with all the right people, to make her family proud and most of all to earn the coveted title of Arbiter. 

All her dreams, and her sanity,  are put to the test when she crosses paths Leon Alcantar, an arrogant telekinetic with a chip on his shoulder and a reputation for being a bully. Karis refuses to stand by and allow Leon to get away with picking on other students, but her rash actions and  short temper get the better of her and lands her, Leon and a three other students caught in the crossfire, on probation in the Reject Dorm.

All Karis has to do is survive six months with her arch enemy as a roommate while juggling training, lessons and an impending alien invasion.
