Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it a memory... You know you're in love when you can say anything to the person and you know they won't laugh at you. When you can see their face when you close your eyes. When you can still feel their arms around you holding you tight after they're gone. When you can still taste their kiss after you have said goodbye. You can tell you're in love when you miss them before they're gone. When their voice lingers in your ears. When their presence eases any pain. When their name sends chills down your spin. When they're the only thing you can think about. You know you're in love when you can see all their hopes and dreams and their soul when you look into their eyes. When they call you at four in the morning to say, "I Love You" and mean it. When your tears stain not only their shirt, but also their heart. When even a simple chore done with them can become a lasting memory. Ultimately, you know you're in love when you can't imagine living without them and can't figure how did you live before you knew them. When they fulfill every need and without them you're incomplete. This is my first attempt at writing a longer story. Here are few things about this novelette: - A novelette stands between a short story and a novella (7, 500- 17,500 words). - This story is not edited, so expect mistakes. - The story has explicit and mature contents. - As part of my "trademark," the story deals with love and loss. New Heights
I felt his hand as it gently pushed the strands of hair that were blocking his view of my face, behind my shoulder. The action caused his fingers to involuntarily graze my jawline and neck making me stiffen. The short contact left my body feeling warm and my breathing to suddenly turn irregular. "I think you look beautiful." He said in that deep, soft voice that made me feel funny. I could still feel his fingers in my hair as they now seemed to instinctively move around the strands. "Thank you.." I whispered, surprised at how softly it came out. Could he even hear it? "My pleasure mamas." He replied, giving me my answer. The words leaving his lips sounded so good that I had to look to make sure he'd actually said them. Before I knew it my body was slowly leaning towards him and even in my dazed state I didn't miss his inching towards mine. • • • Follow Athena Kingman as she experiences life and love in ways that she's never imagined before.
