"We've been best friends for fourteen years. Did you really think I wouldn't notice? I can see it... in your eyes. Your smile never reaches your eyes."

--

When Aspen Ace falls, he falls hard. It's a gradual descent that happens so naturally, Aspen doesn't even recognize anything's changed until he's already neck-deep in an unrequited love for his best friend, Rafe Alvarez.

Nervous and insecure, Aspen brings this new revelation to the person he trusts most-his older brother, Alex. He doesn't expect to be met with unconditional acceptance, but the reaction he receives is nightmare fodder. Regret barely scratches the surface of Aspen's emotions when his brother decides to blackmail him, but with no other option, Aspen learns to survive. Aspen can deal with the abuse as long as Alex keeps his sexuality a secret. He'll just wait it out. Aspen will graduate high school with a baseball scholarship and get the hell out of his conservative hometown... if he can endure. But he can't, and Aspen's suddenly fighting not only his brother, but the all-consuming monster in his head.

{MxMxMxM} "I'm everything I can't be, and I hate it. But I can't do anything about the situation I'm in, so I'll have to deal with it. " .... Tycho Black was struggling with a few things in his life with no one to save him but himself. He didn't really care though, considering it was easy to block out unwanted things. Whether it was thoughts, physical or emotional pain, or anything else- at the end of the day none of it mattered to him. He didn't care that he could possibly feel some sick attraction to men, even though he had never felt attraction before. He didn't care about going home and being met with nothing but fear. And he certainly didn't care about Alexei Abbots or the other older and mysterious men Alexei was associated with. Alexei in particular, though, was just a little weasel that wouldn't leave his mind. He thought he could block him out like every other person, like every other male that made him think in such a bad way. But somehow, for the first time, he couldn't force himself to forget the expression on the boy's face when his fist collided roughly with his jaw. ~ Alexei Abbots was happy. Really, really happy. He was open, free, and accepted by the two best women he had ever met who completely turned his life around. Not only was he welcomed with open arms by his two mothers, but he was also met with the arms of two men he had a mutual fondness for: Riley Worthright and Xavier Mendoza. He was on top of the world, and his not-so-gentle past wouldn't change that. Neither would Tycho Black, the aggressive bully on campus who seemed to get off on being a homophobic a-hole.

Alex has been looking for a sign from the universe. A sign to tell him that he needs to keep fighting. To live on for his brother who died in a tragic car accident. When Alex stumbles across a man in town wearing a blindfold, holding a sign that says, 'You are not alone. If you need a talk or a hug. I am here.' He takes it upon himself to approach the stranger. Was this the sign he has been looking for? - River has been a mental health advocate for three years. With his own demons battled, he takes it upon himself to support others. More specifically strangers. He has always found peace in helping those who suffer in silence. When River is approached by a man who expresses his depressive tendencies, he decides to take the broken stranger for coffee, out of fear of what might happen if he lets him go. River tells him to offload, release all the sadness and frustration he has into someone who knows nothing about him. But when he leaves, River can't stop thinking about him. It's not until Alex comes back a few months later to thank him for listening when he needed help the most. Alex has a lot to thank for his signs from the universe.
