Kacey has worked on Xaya VII for years and she is okay. It's an isolated moon, months away by shuttle from the nearest station, and she is stuck here. The researchers and employees that work with her get to leave and return to civilization after a few years of service and she is, mostly, okay with the ephemeral presence of the people around her. But when one of her few friends, the lone doctor, goes missing along with two others, the base scrambles to figure out what happened, and Kacey finds herself less and less okay with what's going on.
Ari is comfortable being the only doctor on Xaya VII. It helps that they have an amazing team on base. But when they are uncharacteristically chosen to lead a routine mission to a nearby ARC, mysterious conditions draw them and their team into a dangerous threat that Ari has not been trained for. Can they keep their team safe from the unknown?
Kai has disliked every day he has spent away from his family, but as chief engineer in the middle of nowhere he is inundated with hazard pay that makes his three year commitment tolerable. He's almost at the end, but he's starting to get headaches and the base's artificial intelligence keeps flagging his medical file. He just has to keep it together a little longer. But then a team goes missing...
The moon hides a secret that may pull the base apart or kill them all.

When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on.
