Darya had always loved the sea, her father used to take her out on his ship and they would spend months on end sailing and visiting foreign lands. That all ended the night her father's ship was attacked and Darya was taken to Astapor as a slave. Years later, Daenerys Targaryen freed the slave city and took Darya and Missandei with her when she made her way through Slaver's Bay. The sea still called to the newly freed woman but she stayed with Daenerys, both to repay the debt she owed and because the Dragon Queen had become her close friend.

But the sea still found a way to her in the form of the one and only Yara Greyjoy.
