Golden Hatfield had been enjoying a classically unremarkable, painfully predictable, but otherwise copacetic trajectory through his 20's. Maria McIntyre came from a volatile background before she settled into the apple pie-lifestyle that Golden offered her. Her charisma and beauty blended well with Golden's stand-up reputation, and created the relationship envy of a community obsessed with portrayal of stability and success.
