Growing up, I always heard people telling my dad why is he teaching me about survival. What's the point? Those skills won't be useful in this modern day of age. Why would you need to know how to use weapons like a Bow or tell the difference between some planets or fruits? But my old man never listened and good thing he didn't. My mom on the other hand taught me basic life skills I need in my day to day life like sewing and cooking. My mom was definitely more of an indoor, creative person so it's a mystery how she ended up with an outdoorsy, adventure man like my dad. But hey they say opposites attract and they are definitely proof of that. But I was never one for love. It can get complicated and it doesn't seem like something I would need during high school of all times. High school is already complicated without the need of getting romance involved. But who knows, maybe that's entirely true and I might change my mind or maybe not. Only time will tell.

It seems like just yesterday I was saved. Not knowing what to do next or where I should go. There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally.
