I was caught in the net, with no hope of escape. As the net broke the surface, four men shouted in alarm. One called for someone to come up from below deck. He opened the door and studied me.

I hissed at him as he approached the edge of the boat. "Let me go, human."

He chuckled. "Not a chance, fish. You're my new science project."

Douglass finds himself in a risky situation when he's caught up in a net while swimming back to his cave. He tries to get lose, but only manages to get himself bound tighter in the ropes. Captured by human scientists, kept in a tank on land. Far from his home, scared and alone.

Nathaniel works at the marine research center for his uncle. When he finds the siren in a tank far too small to contain a wild creature, he knows that the merman isn't happy there. He's trying to figure out a way to free him. Little does he know, he's not exactly human, and his uncle is hiding a big secret that might change his life.

What happens when they realize that they're uncovering something much bigger?
