This story about a little girl named Katrina Parkman, who is six years old and lives in an orphanage. Katrina lost her parents a year ago in a car accident. Upon waking up to a three week coma, Katrina was moved to a local orphanage called Little Treasures. There she met two of her orphan roommates, Billy and Sophie, and her caregiver Rosa. Out of the three people, none of them she would call a friend. Her only friend is her stuff teddy bear named Mabel. One day, before the bus arrived to pick up the orphans for school, a report was released telling the citizens of Gotham that another kidnapping and school shooting has occurred. This was the fourth school shooting and kidnapping to take place that month, and still none of the kidnapped children have been found. Sadly though, Katrina will find herself in the middle of another school shooting and will become a victim. The question is, will she survive? Find out more in "The Light in Darkness".

The Medical School
Bren Halsey has spent her whole life in an orphanage. She blames her miserable existence on her parents-they abandoned her on the orphanage's doorstep as an infant. Her daily routine consists of online classes, taking the trash out, and annoying the hell out of the staff. Now, at age fourteen, life still hasn't improved. Bren plans to move far away from the dreaded place the second she turns eighteen. Until then, life doesn't seem like it could get any worse. Until, that is, she's kidnapped one night while taking the trash out. Bren is taken to a building in her own town, just blocks from the orphanage. The outside says Hancock Avenue Medical Boarding School-the inside says torture prison. Within the building's brick walls are many other children and teens who have also been kidnapped. Bren is subjected to countless painful experiments and hours of slave labor. According to a certain Professor Charleston, the prison leader, prisoners will remain in the building for thirty days before being taken to an unknown location. Escaping is nearly out of the question, as there are guards everywhere and punishments are severe. Bren knows that she has to get out somehow, because the prisoners who are shipped off at the end of the month are never seen again. Joker and Riddler, along with every other villain in Gotham, take a liking to Katrina when she visits Arkham on that fateful day. Cathleen was only five when it happened, when her parents died before her eyes. That night started out amazing, she had dinner with them and they went out for ice cream. However, Gotham isn't a place where good things last. When they made it to their car, it exploded, killing her mother instantly, her father rushed to save his daughter, but was gunned down. Little Cathleen could only lay there motionless and watch, whilst slipping into a coma. She slept for a year, but then woke up. The doctors didn't know how to console the traumatized six year old girl, so they let her cry it out. Once she was able to leave the hospital, she was sent to Juvi, because all of Gotham's orphanages where full. She was in Juvi for a year, before taken hostage by Joker. That's when she met Batman, and Red Robin, and Red Hood, And Nightwing. They saved her, they notice that she shouldn't be in Juvi, so they bring her to an orphanage.
