A 16-year-old girl named Ashlyn is starting her first day at Hillside Academy and she is really excited. But also really nervous - when she was younger, she was told to keep her ability secret and was called a demon. Her ability is a bit... particular.  

What exactly is Hillside Academy? You may ask. 
Well, let's start at the very beginning:
In this time on earth, everybody has a special, supernatural ability and they are also put in ranks because of their said abilities. 
And because many people cannot seem to get control of their ability, there are special schools. Everyone has to visit a magic Academy at least once in their lifetime o else the won't be allowed to use their ability in any way and are given some type of blockage. 
There are thousands and thousands of Academies but there are exactly 3 Elite Academies, on the continent, Ashlyn lives. Heart Academy, Eagle Academy and... Hillside  Academy. Those are the three top schools of Amecuza.

Anything can happen when a person is full of anger and guilt, shadowed by their own ego...will you invite them to be your friend? Or fight them like a foe? [2023 NOTE] Have you ever grown up? I had my first experience last month and it was truly disappointing and I would argue life changing -- I no longer see the average grown adult with the same respect as I did before writing this fic. And honestly, my impression of the community prior to writing this fic, fairly intelligent, and they really were a cross section of the general public. But as when I started writing this fic, I was truly astonished at my writing and how impressive my brain power is. And I can sense how that experience has seeped into my psyche and is polluting my ability to trust people, and I have become more suspicious of the true motivations of those around me. I literally cannot tell if I was just naive before and am more realistic now, or if I was realistic before and have become cynical now. This does not define my political views, and who I am today. I really am a changed man.😞

Aubrey is transferring from the comfort of her well-known Catholic school to a boarding school across the country because of a mishap with the school's "Popular Girl." She thinks that being sent away, she's being punished for her actions, but that's not entirely the case. She notices that the students and faculty of Hillside Academy aren't like anyone else she's met before, and that they seem to possess strange powers. Maybe even as strange as hers, even though she refuses to admit it. As she settles in, she starts to see that people are going missing, and that's definitely not normal.
