Alena wants the perfect life but doesn't know how to get it. When her best friend Jane's mother gets remarried she meets the first love of her life, but not her last. Carter is safe, he's practical. He is the right choice for Alena, but is that who she really wants for the rest of her life? They are very similar, they like the same movies, the same books, hell they are even going to the same college and headed down the same career path. They both want to be teachers. They are happy, simple, boring, yet perfect. That is until Alena gets a summer job at the local bookstore, she has known the owner since she was a little girl and works there every summer. This summer is different though, Nan has hired her grandson who is starting college to study criminal justice. When Alena meets Luke its like a heat that's too hot for her. She knows that if she gets too close or lets him in that she will only get burned. She cant help herself though, she wants him, she craves him. He makes her feel a way that Carter never has, it's exciting and new. He's different. He is nothing like Alena, they like completely different things, yet they have so much in common. Their work relationship starts off a bit rocky because he judges her based on how she looks and doesn't think she is his type. But as he gets to know her he starts to fall, hard. He knows she is taken and he doesn't care. Who will she choose? The safe practical love, or the unpredictable burning love?

[⚠️ Chapter 41+ are paid content via Ko-fi ⚠️] ── ─ ┈┈┈┄┄╌╌ The De Luca brothers reign supreme in the underworld, holding dominion over the ruthless realm of the Italian Mafia. They are cold, merciless, driven by madness, their loyalty solely to blood. Yet, their lives take an unexpected turn when they discovered their thirteen years old little sister. *** "When she was choking me, is that... love?" she whispered, her voice barely audible, each word trembling as if afraid to leave her lips. Her eyes, wide and glassy, searched mine desperately, seeking a truth that she couldn't grasp amidst the fog of confusion and despair that clouded her mind. My heart seethed with rage, a torrent of emotions crashing against the walls of my restraint, threatening to betray the stoic facade I had carefully constructed. I wanted to scream, to shake her out of this misguided belief. Hestia, my little sister, stared back at me. Her innocence tainted by the cruel hands of someone who had twisted the meaning of love into something unrecognizable. She couldn't differentiate the painfully obvious truth, the clear distinction between love and control, kindness and cruelty. It was as if the very essence of her spirit was being suffocated, just as her breath had been. ── ─ ┈┈┈┄┄╌╌ [⚠️ Chapter 41+ are paid content via Ko-fi ⚠️] ⚠️ Trigger Warning: This story contains sensitive and potentially distressing themes, including abuse, sexual assault, rape, psychological trauma, and mature content. Adelaide Sinclair has already learned how to live at Camp Half-Blood. How to keep her head down, her arrows close, and her light under control. When Percy Jackson arrives and his presence shifts the balance of the camp, she finds herself pulled into a story that was never meant to include her.
