Alena wants the perfect life but doesn't know how to get it. When her best friend Jane's mother gets remarried she meets the first love of her life, but not her last. Carter is safe, he's practical. He is the right choice for Alena, but is that who she really wants for the rest of her life? They are very similar, they like the same movies, the same books, hell they are even going to the same college and headed down the same career path. They both want to be teachers. They are happy, simple, boring, yet perfect. That is until Alena gets a summer job at the local bookstore, she has known the owner since she was a little girl and works there every summer. This summer is different though, Nan has hired her grandson who is starting college to study criminal justice. When Alena meets Luke its like a heat that's too hot for her. She knows that if she gets too close or lets him in that she will only get burned. She cant help herself though, she wants him, she craves him. He makes her feel a way that Carter never has, it's exciting and new. He's different. He is nothing like Alena, they like completely different things, yet they have so much in common. Their work relationship starts off a bit rocky because he judges her based on how she looks and doesn't think she is his type. But as he gets to know her he starts to fall, hard. He knows she is taken and he doesn't care. Who will she choose? The safe practical love, or the unpredictable burning love?
