What if our world was roaming with creatures nobody really knew about them?
But one day, Caleb Berterson, a normal sixteen year old teenager, suddenly meets one. His life goes for a twist.
He tries to learn about the creatures, but he can hardly learn about things that were known to be untrue. But where would they have come from? Eventually, he finds out that there were demon-hunters, people who used to hunt those nasty creatures. But that was almost thirty years ago,then demon-hunters began to decrease. The creatures then kidnap Caleb's family.
What will he do then? Will Caleb be able to save them? Will he be able, with luck, to find the remaining demon-hunters and ask for help to save his family? And will Caleb be able to protect himself and other people?
If he fails, it could cost his family's and other people's lives. So what will he do?

Every year, my town chooses a sacrifice for the demon that "watches over" our home. In exchange for a person from the village between the ages of 17 to 25, the demon protects our village. And because of that pact, our village is protected for the next year, under the demon's watchful eyes. No one knows what happens to those who the demon chooses, but there's a lot of theories about it. One is that the demon eats or absorbs those who are chosen - another, that it kills them. But this year, I'm the one who's chosen. I get to meet the demon I've feared since I was a child, and now that I'm 24, and am considered an adult, I could have left the village behind. But I didn't. Something inside me told me to stay. Now, I'm going to die. I just know it. I can't leave now, or run away, because the town would be unprotected for a whole year, and that's where my family lives.
