Everything takes place in modern day, but in a fictional reality where little beings (borrowers) live in the walls and take things that humans don't need. Humans have all but been wiped out. The few that remain stay in hiding and some even turn on their own kind just to survive. This story follows Michael. One of these few humans. Follow him as he winds up caught by one of these giants who ends up being the most unlikely ally in his mission to find out why the giants invaded and to reclaim Earth for the humans.
