Undeniable

The intensity of his stare is electrifying, and I can't resist the urge to draw this moment out. I finally reach him and instead of saying anything, I lift the cup out of his hands and take a sip, all while maintaining eye contact. I lick my lips slowly as I hand the cup back to him, and finally he breaks eye contact to look down at my lips. I can't help the victorious smirk that forms on my face.

"You're new," I observe, breaking our silence.

He slightly tilts his head, his intense gaze studies my face for a moment before he replies in a deep voice that catches me off guard.

"Brandon," He replies shortly. He stands up straight, now towering over me.

"That explains it." I reply, just as short. He quirks his eyebrow at me, expecting me to say more. Again I feel the tension between us, thick as ever. Neither one of us wants to give in completely on this game we're playing.

"Is that so?" He asks, clearly curious how I've heard of him. He folds his muscular arms across his chest, leaning the rim of his cup against his full lips.

"I'm Sadie," Is all I say in response. His eyebrows briefly raised in surprise, so quickly I almost didn't catch it. I assumed that Joey had mentioned me to him and I was correct. A small smile played at my lips as I waited for his next words.

"Joey's sister." He states, his gaze hardening. I'm a bit surprised with his reaction. Up till this point I was sure we had crazy sexual tension going on... but maybe I misread that completely. The look he's giving me now is like he can't wait to get away from me.

"Mhm..." I respond, not sure what to say now. I nervously look down and hold onto my elbow. I'm rarely nervous around guys, the feeling is very uncomfortable. I glance back up at Brandon and curiously study his face.

Apparently having enough of our interaction, Brandon clears his throat and looks at me once more before turning and walking away.

I stood there for at least a minute in shock. What the hell was that?
