I take a step back and my back hits the wall as he strides closer to me, with a deranged look etched across his face. He stops when he's inches from my face. My breathing goes ridged with him being so close, being able to feel his breath on my face.

"There's a thin line between love and hate, and quite frankly you managed to stand on it. I haven't touched you yet but trust me, you have to choose between two sides, pick the wrong one and I'll give you a reason to be afraid." He bites out, looking straight through me. My breath hitches when he slams his fist to the wall, barley missing my face. My face scrunches up as I try to hold back tears. My lip quivers and my body trembles as he scoffs and turns away to his bed.

Maya is brave, yet also afraid that her choices could lead her spiralling back into a bad place again. Will Noah be able to save her from herself? Or will he be the cause of her destruction? ---------------------------- ~Noah's pov~ 'These,' I slowly run my finger across one of her scars, 'are fucking beautiful.' Before she can object, I carry on. 'Maya you are beautiful beyond perfection. You are strong. You are brave. You are funny. You are sweet. You are incredible. Look at yourself,' I nod down towards the scars on her arm and she slowly glances down at them before meeting my gaze again, 'those scars are beautiful. Do you know why?' I ask her. She wipes a tear from her already tear-stricken face before she shakes her head. 'Because every time you decided to do that to yourself, you didn't go further, you didn't end your life. You decided to carry on living even when you thought you couldn't manage it. Those scars right there,' I gesture to them again, 'show the battles you won against yourself. They are your battle-scars and you shouldn't be ashamed of them. And you know what? I am so proud of you for making it to where you are today because you are a fighter and If I can see that, anyone can.'

This isn't love," he retorted, but I was lost in the darkness of his eyes, eyes that promised danger. "I want Ivy-" I stepped closer, trying to assert control. "I'm the best for you. I know every detail of your life. I know what you eat, drink, how you sleep, your every thought. I know you better than you know yourself-" He suddenly grabbed my wrist, pulling me so close I could feel his breath on my neck. His voice dropped to a menacing whisper. "You think you know me? You think you can control me?" A shiver ran down my spine as his grip tightened. "You're not that special," he continued, his eyes burning into mine. I leaned in, our faces inches apart. "In a month, you'll be mine. Mark my words." His laughter echoed through the room. "We'll see SHORTCAKE."
