I lift his bangs and place my palm on his forehead, trying to check his temperature without a thermometer. He's warm, but not warm enough for me to push further on the possibility of him being infected. I decide to ignore my deeply engraved instincts from many moments like this with other people, and trust him.
"Aren't you like... a doctor? How'd you get a cold?" I ask, laying back on the bed with my arms extended behind me, propping me up at an angle.
He gives the classic, 'annoyed and unamused' look before answering. "Correction. physician scientist, and everyone gets sick, Zak. Just because I'm a quote unquote, 'doctor' as you put it, doesn't mean I'm exempt from illness."
