The corrupted ones become lifeless, aggressive vessels of darkness that pursue to consume Wing Light, dispel light forces, and spread the Corruption to other Sky Kids, Spirits, and Light Creatures. Spirits (Who are corporeal in this story) are tasked to survive and adapt to their new, dangerous world and find a way to stop the corruption once and for all.
