Mermaids are seen as dangerous and evil because of ancient stories about sirens in the Caribbean, and if you were royal blood that caught one, you got to keep it as a trophy. Years ago, Akoni's grandfather killed Eldoris father(Poseidon), while her father was saving her. Causing both royal families to have a rivalry going back to back, and the two oldest children (Akoni and Eldoris) in the bloodlines end up having an enemies to lovers trope. Causing to have a interesting love story.
