Germany in 1985 was a time of cultural change, scientific progress, and strict societal rules. The story takes place in a prestigious girls' finishing school in Berlin, where privilege and tradition shape everyday life. But beneath the surface, the struggle between old values and new ideas mirrors the changes happening in the world outside. Annika Hoffmann, 20, the working-class daughter of a Socialist newspaper editor, is sent to an elite finishing school to "improve her station" after her father secures a rare scholarship for her. Helena a 38-year-old professor of philosophy and literature, is an unconventional woman navigating life in an era where intellectual and artistic pursuits are still dominated by men. Their growing connection challenges not only societal expectations but also their own perceptions of loyalty, duty and identity.
