Ash Summers was only five when she was locked up for stealing rations, only she didn't steal them. Her abusive and drunk parents did and  put the blame on her. They got floated for other crimes, but Ash was still going to be floated. Two years after she was arrested the Ark sends 100 prisoners down to the ground.
