I don't look up, just shrug, focused on the tiny shards of pottery she still hasn't noticed. In some ways, it's lucky that the cup's value is only sentimental. I forgot how clumsy I am; emboldened by a new hairstyle and dress sense, which she pretends not to notice.

"What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie?" Instantly, Sawyer frowns, an unimpressed expression on his face. I continue to smile as I grab his shoulders and shake him, "C'mon, Sawyer, you gotta ask!! What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie??" He shakes his head, turning away from me as he presses his tongue to inside of his mouth. Flatly, he states, "We're not doing this shit, Mari." "You're a fucking idiot." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Slow Burn, Lengthy Chapters* Marianne Parker and Sawyer Cortez are complete opposites of each other. Marianne is a dad joke loving, talented musician who believes in finding the good in everything around her. Always smiling, laughing, kind to everyone, and an optimist. With a bubbly attitude and an outgoing personality, she's always looking to make a new friend. An all-around ray of sunshine. Sawyer, on the other hand, is a sarcastic, blunt, rude, and pessimistic bookworm. He doesn't believe there could be good in everything. He doesn't smile, doesn't laugh, and isn't interested in making new friends. Let alone, socializing. Hell, he BARELY tolerates his own friends. The total definition of a raincloud. Marianne's looking for a fresh start, and Sawyer wants a normal year of high school. When he meets Marianne, it becomes all too clear that there's something about her he can't ignore. From the way she walks, talks, laughs, and smiles, it's all distracting and unfamiliar to him. And, of course, he doesn't like that. In his efforts, he tries to ignore the feelings and avoid HER at all costs. But, that can be hard when the girl in question is EQUALLY interested in him too. Started August 2023 - ????

Seems like everyone is obsessed with Y/N Dixon. It starts off with her friends in the house of Gryffindor, 3rd year. Someone at Hogwarts has been following her every move. Was it her best friend Harry Potter who was slowly falling in love with her, or someone else? Is it romantic.. or terrifying? This story contains a very smart and sarcastic Y/N and a lot of unexpected plot twists. FYI, sue me if you don't laugh because you probably will.. i'm hilarious. Two of them actually placed in their respective sections (yay!): -Mysterious Ways - 1st place, @PsychologicalNovel's "Wake Up In the Morning" comp (June 2020) -The Listeners - 1st place, Last Summer 2020 collab in the @WarriorGoddess section (July/August 2020) * -'The Flower Hunter'. Loosely based on the folklore of seductive water sprites, particularly the Vila (a Central European version of Rusalka). Written for @AfterDark's "Mirror, Mirror" contest (Mar 2020) -'Mysterious Ways'. A young woman wakes in the wrong version of her bedroom. Or is it so wrong after all? ('You wake in a strange place, possibly as someone else.') -'The Listeners'. Morial and her fellow Spirit Listeners work hard to maintain the balance between nature and mortals; until, one Summer, Morial is accused of upsetting that balance herself. ("I know what you did last summer". The prompt features as paragraph nine in my story.) -'Between the (Spread)Sheets'. An accountant and a trader play cat-and-mouse in a City firm. (@Crime's 'Deceptive Detective' Aug 2020: one criminal goes undercover to expose or be exposed by another.) -'The Unexpected Message'. A missed phone call proves momentous for a young art historian. (@AmbassadorsUK/@Fanatsy/@WattpadFairytales's 'Underground Tales' contest Nov 2020: pick a Tube station - King's Cross/Angel/Seven Sisters/Knightsbridge - and imagine what lies below which is connected with the name. I chose Angel.) The only real thing in this story is the Museum of London (which has an excellent Roman gallery, btw); any coincidence with real heritage experts - or indeed the unrealistic probability of such a find - is my fault. -'Cyclopean Arches'. In the year 3542, an advance exploration party finds some interesting ruins. (Nov 2020. 'Underground Tales' (again): King's Cross.)

-"Why are you crying?" What, I didn't know I was crying. -"Come on." He offers a hand to help me up. -"Stay away... from me." I get up on my own a grunt escaping my lips when I feel pain in my knees. -"Your knees!" He crouches down to look at them up close. -"Oh don't act as if you care." I look down and see he has wet hair, which is reasonable since he came out of the bathroom. *Swoop* He scoops me up, my injured knees on his left and my head rests on his right shoulder. I hitch as he picks me up. -"What do you think you're doing? Put me down this instant!" I try to wiggle out of his arms, but it's useless, he holds me tighter to his chest. He gently places me on the bed, and I sit on the edge, I instantly throw my hand to his face intending to slap him. As if it were muscle memory he blocks my hand and gently holds it. He crouches down not breaking eye contact. -"Stella, I'm... sorry. I acted out on you." I know Jacob, and that probably was hard for him to admit. -"Let me treat your knees." He places a gentle hand over my wound. ~ ~ ~ ~ Her Dad was murdered fighting for what was right, her mom didn't love her dad all that much...or her, she plans to follow her dad's footsteps even though that might lead her to death. Her parents had a planed marriage, her mom was more on the medium class while her dad was lower, that said, he needed money to help some important people and ended up marrying a women he didn't love. She has an awful opinion of men. She loved her dad, but she was still mad at him, for his decisions. A little something might happen in her life to change that perspective.

It's the little things that count. The little things that pass by without our notice. The little things that pile up quietly, slowly, and before you know it, everything changes. Call it providence, or coincidence, or just plain good ol' luck that their paths managed to cross again after so many years. Whatever the case may be, she was grateful for it, because without meaning to, she managed to rekindle a flame she had long thought to be extinguished. She found her way home to him, and likewise, he found her way home to her. She had found her Catchy again. And now, here they were, studying in a University in Lyon, France, living a few minutes away from each other. Yet no matter how things seemed to fall in place around her, she couldn't help but feel uneasy, because the universe, being what it is, is fraught with indeterminacies. The smallest things could make a world's worth of difference. Her anxieties only grew when on their last semester, Catchy decides to take a leave of absence, without so much as a single word.
