Heather's Heart

Imprisoned in Hades for twenty-five years, Emrick Evenwood awakens to find himself hanging from the gallows with his legs embedded in a lake of ice. Escaping to his home in the land of the living, he quickly learns that his house has collected more than dust while he has been away: the Duncan family has taken up residence.
Unwilling to kick children into the street, Emrick allows them to stay temporarily. However, the Duncan's are shrouded in dark secrets of their own. Emrick soon discovers that the young goth-girl Heather is ruthlessly abused at school on a daily basis, while her brother stands by unwilling to defend her. Alone in her suffering, Heather is pushed closer to the edge every day.
With a host of demons on his trail, Emrick must discover the secrets of the artifact he stole from Hades in time to prevent a demonic invasion. But, perhaps more important, he must also unravel the intricate mysteries of the Duncan family. The most perplexing of which is why the children have a dark connection to the underworld.
